Children with toys

I have noticed a lot of portraits in my archive show children with their toys. Some clearly belong to the children, others seem to be props from the photo studio, which might be setting up trouble when they have to be returned to the owners! This postcard portrait is a good example, with the young sister holding pale teddy bear. It is marked Jack and cousin, with the date 1916. It is also unusual in being a triple exposure on a postcard. I am assuming three negatives were taken, then the paper was masked in the darkroom, but it might be that there was a system of masking the actual glass negative in the camera. The photographer has also added a crude round cornered border to the print at the printing stage.
