Fashion portraits (dated)

While Walking Pictures are the main focus of this project, many people preferred to have their souvenir photograph taken in a studio and there were usually several in most big towns. Supplied on postcards these are formal but still interesting, especially when they are properly dated and help date the fashions of the time. The elaborate backdrops painted on canvas are also fascinating, as well as the numerous props. I’m not an expert on this sort of image, but assume like the walkies prints could be collected in a day or less. The studio could also arrange for framed enlargements or hand-colouring.  Many are of very good quality. Here are three examples. Page 2 has more.
