In doing the walking picture feature for the local paper, they had their photographer try and recreate a modern walkie on the same spot as that used by one of the pre-war cameramen. As it was raining and murky she had to use flash which spoilt the effect a bit, but we managed to get the right place. I had a play around at trying to merge this new shot (having provided the paper with two pages of images and copy, they refused to let me have the photo gratis and I had to pay £12 to get it from their photo library!) with one from the mid-thirties (inspired I confess by a Russian photographer, who is taking archive shots from WW2 and merging them into modern cityscapes). The central building with the tower is still there and fits really well. The people have moved on.
